Here's hoping the ducks stay lame
There are a few issues the outgoing Democrats in DC are likely to try to push through during the lame duck session, but those more likely to be addressed boil down to economics. Do we have enough money to spend more (i.e. Omnibus spending bill)? Should we tax more (i.e. let the Bush tax cuts expire) to make up for the fact that we don't?
There were other issues that the Dems would have liked to spend time on but likely won't be able to. As another lame duck (Bill Clinton) once proclaimed: "It's the economy, stupid."
My hope is that they do nothing. Yes, that will mean that the tax cuts will expire but at least there will be no compromise on the cuts expiring for people making more than $250,000. Then, when the Republicans get in there in January, they can try to hurry and extend the cuts, maybe even permanently.
